Keeping McMaster Grads in Hamilton
As a result of a couple of articles by McMaster students indicating that students often leave Hamilton because they fail to establish a relationship with Hamilton as home during their time in school, sometimes feel alienated in near-campus neighbourhoods and are unable to find employment, a motion (introduced by Brian) was approved at Council on September 10, 2008 to ask the City of Hamilton Economic Development Advisory Committee to advise Council on a strategy to keep post-secondary students in Hamilton, post graduation.
On December 4, 2008, Brian and Azim Kasmani, MSU President gave a joint presentation to this committee to provide some background about this issue.

A working group has been established made up of representatives from McMaster University, Mohawk College and the City. Next steps include a meeting with the Director of EconomicDevelopment and Real Estate.
