Kirkendall Neighbourhood Traffic Management Study

The City of Hamilton has initiated the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) process to develop a comprehensive Traffic Management Plan for the Kirkendall Neighbourhood (north and south) that will include notably the following considerations: existing parking supply and demand; on-street commercial vehicle loading; neighbourhood traffic infiltration; traffic calming opportunities; and traffic impacts associated with the redevelopment of the former CAMCO site by McMaster University.

Kirkendall neighbourhood.

Kirkendall covers the area from the Escarpment to Main Street West and from Queen Street South to Highway 403.

This EA is the result of Brian's request to have a traffic study carried out to address the numerous traffic and parking issues in the Kirkendall neighbourhood and to proactively consider the impact of future development of the former CAMCO site on neighbourhood traffic.

A Public Information Centre was held on November 3, 2005. Staff gave a presentation and then asked for comments from the audience.

Upon completion of the study, a Project File Report will be available for public review and comment. Another advertisement will be published at that time. The next public meeting is tentatively scheduled for April, 2006
